Why tampines playground are not really suitable for people with phobia of heights


In this picture, is a yellow pole where kids can slide down.However, We think that it is too dangerous for these kids. For children whom might have phobia of heights, might scare to death before they even touch the pole as the poles are usually quite long to let the children slide down. When the pole is longer, the height to place the pole will be higher. When the height is higher, children with phobia of height will not even climb up and see how high because by standing on the ground floor they could clearly see how high is it and will not play with it.One of our member, Ru Hui, has phobia of heights.She stated that when she was young, she didn't dare to slide down the pole because she thinks that the pole was placed too high at that point of time.She was scared that she might fall and what if she let go of her hands halfway?she started to imagine a lot of negative things and decided not to play with the pole.Thus, in order for kids not to have phobia towards our playground, we are not going to use this pole as well as to ensure their safety.
